Ukrainian drone attacks ZNPP center housing world's only full-scale reactor hall simulator

The press service noted that the Ukrainian attacks were a direct violation of the seven principles of nuclear safety and five principles of Zaporozhye NPP safety established by the International Atomic Energy Agency at the UN Security Council

MELITOPOL, April 9. /TASS/. A Ukrainian drone has attacked the training center of the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP), which houses the world's only full-scale reactor hall simulator.

"The unique training center of Zaporozhye NPP was attacked. The drone hit the roof of the ZNPP training center, where the world's only full-scale reactor hall simulator is located. No one was injured as a result of the attack," the ZNPP said on its Telegram channel.

The press service added that the Ukrainian attacks were a direct violation of the seven principles of nuclear safety and five principles of Zaporozhye NPP safety established by the International Atomic Energy Agency at the UN Security Council.

Ukrainian UAVs attacked the nuclear power plant thrice on April 7. The strikes were recorded in the area of the cargo port and the canteen located on the premises of the ZNPP. A truck was damaged while being unloaded. Three people were injured. Also, one of the Ukrainian drones hit the roof of Unit 6. On April 8, a Ukrainian kamikaze drone was shot down over the Zaporozhye NPP. Its debris fell on the roof of Unit 6.

The Zaporozhye NPP, located in Energodar consists of six power units with a total capacity of 6 GW. It is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe. The facility was taken under control by Russian forces in late February 2022. Since then, Ukrainian army units have been periodically shelling both residential areas in Energodar and the NPP’s premises, using drones, heavy artillery and multiple rocket launchers.
