Kazakh security forces detain man suspected of plotting terrorist attack
The detained individual has a previous conviction for murder
ASTANA, April 1. /TASS/. Officers of the National Security Committee of Kazakhstan have detained a radical-leaning individual in the city of Aktau suspected of plotting a terrorist attack, the committee’s press service said.
"On April 1, 2024, [officers] of the National Security Committee in coordination with the prosecutor’s office detained a local resident in the city of Aktau on suspicion of preparing [to commit] a terrorist attack," it said. "Components for making an explosive device with strike elements and other material evidence were seized during a search of his residence," the press service added.
The detained individual has a previous conviction for murder.
A pre-trial investigation has been launched into him over plotting a terrorist attack. Other details cannot be made public, the committee explained.
