Three drones targeting US air base in Erbil downed over Iraqi Kurdistan

CAIRO, January 16. /TASS/. The Counter-Terrorism Group (CTG) of Iraqi Kurdistan thwarted an attack targeting the US air base in Erbil as it downed three drones packed with explosives at 5:05 a.m. local time (2:00 a.m. GMT - TASS) on Tuesday.
"Three explosive-laden drones targeting the air base of an international coalition at Erbil International Airport were downed and destroyed," Shafaq news quoted CTG as saying in a statement.
The Harir Air Base, which hosts US and international forces, is situated in the vicinity of Erbil International Airport.
In the early hours of Tuesday, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) attacked what it said were Israeli "spy centers" in Erbil as well as the stationing areas of anti-Iranian terrorist groups in the Kurdistan autonomous region in northern Iraq, IRNA news agency reported. The elite Iranian militia stated that the strike had been carried out in response to the January 3 terrorist attack in the Iranian city of Kerman and the killing of IRGC commanders.
