MOSCOW, January 10. /TASS/. Sevmash Shipyard will float the Knyaz Pozharsky strategic submarine of Borey-A-class project 955A in late January, a shipbuilding source told TASS.
"The eighth submarine of the Borey family will leave the Sevmash slipway and float for final construction in the end of January," the source said. TASS has no official confirmation of the report.
In December, Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu set the task to deliver the Knyaz Pozharsky to the Northern fleet in 2024. The submarine has to test fire a Bulava missile at Kura range in Kamchatka.
The Knyaz Pozharsky strategic nuclear submarine with ballistic missiles (SSBN) is the fifth sub of upgraded Borey-A-class project 955A. She was laid on December 23, 2016. The submarines of the project are armed with 16 Bulava intercontinental ballistic missiles.
