MOSCOW, December 8. /TASS/. Five Syrian soldiers were killed and 15 more wounded in an attack by a militant raiding party in the Aleppo governorate, Vadim Kulit, deputy chief of the Russian Center for Reconciliation of the Opposing Parties in Syria (a division of the Russian defense ministry), said on Friday.

"As a result of an attack by a raiding party of militants from illegal armed groups on the positions of Syrian government forces near the settlement of Urum al-Sugra in the Aleppo governorate, five Syrian soldiers were killed and 15 more were wounded," he said.

According to Kulit, terrorists shelled positions of government forces in the Idlib de-escalation zone. Thus, one Syrian soldier was killed and one more was wounded as a result of sniper fire by terrorists in the Idlib governorate. Five shelling attacks on the positions of government forces from the positions of the Jabhat al-Nusra terrorist group and Turkistan Islamic Party (both outlawed in Russia) were reported during the day.

Apart from that, in his words, US-led coalition’s fighter jets and drones violated Syria’s airspace in the al-Tanf area, across which international air routes run, six times during the past day. One violation of the deconfliction protocols of December 9, 2019 linked with the flights by the coalition drones was reported in Syria in the past 24 hours, he added.

He also said that the Russian reconciliation center conducted three humanitarian operations and delivered 8.4 tons of food to people.
