Interpol stresses importance of upholding operational ties with Russian Interior Ministry
It is noted that Interpol ensures that equal and fair treatment is provided to all member countries by the Lyon, France-based organization
VIENNA, November 28. /TASS/. Interpol continues to maintain operational relations with Russian law enforcement authorities and the activity of Russia in the global police body is as important as that of any other member country, Interpol head Ahmed Naser Al-Raisi said in an interview with TASS.
On the eve of the 91st session of the Interpol General Assembly, Al-Raisi noted that "Russia and the other member countries [are] important to the organization." According to the top official, Interpol’s "constitution does not allow [for] expelling any country." Al-Raisi stressed that Article 2 of Interpol’s constitution stipulates that the organization’s doors are always open to any country in order to provide support to their police. "Capability building, information sharing, fighting crimes. This is what is happening with Russia now. The communication is there," he said, stressing that Interpol ensures that equal and fair treatment is provided to all member countries by the Lyon, France-based organization.
The 91st Interpol General Assembly will be held in Vienna on November 28-December 1. It will bring together leaders and representatives of law enforcement agencies from more than 190 member states. The session will mark the 100th anniversary of Interpol, founded in the Austrian capital in 1923.
