Sergey Korotkov said no decision had been made to make the sixth-generation aviation unmanned

MOSCOW, November 22. /TASS/. Sixth-generation fighter jets will operate in a single reconnaissance force together with drones, Designer General and Deputy CEO of the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) Sergey Korotkov said at the Aerospace Technologies Week in Moscow.

"As for short-term plans for (sixth-generation) aviation, we have to conceal aircraft activities and ensure survivability of the aviation complex. We clearly understand the necessity of group actions of aviation complexes with unmanned aerial vehicles, which have to deal with various tasks both in group actions and possibly in reconnaissance forces," he said.

Korotkov said no decision had been made to make the sixth-generation aviation unmanned.

He said a round table was held on sixth-generation aircraft two years ago and engaged various aviation experts. "We did not agree," he said adding the global aviation community is also undecided.

"There is a discussion that has not ended with anything today. We are at the turning point," Korotkov said.

UAC CEO Yury Slyusar earlier said Su-57 fifth-generation jet was a step toward the sixth-generation aircraft and will be used to develop the family. Supersonic Su-57 is designed to destroy all air, ground, and water surface targets. It carries arms inside the fuselage and has a stealth coating and the latest onboard equipment complex.
