Post-Soviet security bloc to focus on Central Asia drills next year — chief of staff
It is too early yet to speak about the timeframe and training grounds of the upcoming drills, Anatoly Sidorov said
MOSCOW, November 16. /TASS/. The Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) intends to conduct drills with the emphasis on the Central Asian region next year, with military exercises expected in Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Tajikistan, Chief of the CSTO Joint Staff Colonel-General Anatoly Sidorov said on Thursday.
"The 2024 plan [of military exercises] makes emphasis on the Central Asian collective security region. In particular, we are planning drills with the CSTO Collective Operational Response Forces in Kyrgyzstan, the Peacekeeping Forces in Kazakhstan and the Collective Rapid Reaction Forces of the Central Asian region in Tajikistan," the general said
It is too early yet to speak about the timeframe and training grounds of the upcoming drills, he said.
"We will hold consultations that will begin already in December this year. Gradually, we will specify all this and necessarily bring this information to the notice of all the parties concerned," the chief of the CSTO Joint Staff said.
