MOSCOW, November 7. /TASS/. The Russian Aerospace Forces have delivered a strike targeting an underground shelter of militants, responsible for a deadly attack on Syrian troops, the deputy chief of the Russian Center for Reconciliation of the Opposing Parties in Syria said on Tuesday.
"The Russian Aerospace Forces have delivered a strike on positions near the settlement of Maayan in the Idlib governorate, held by armed groups responsible for attacks on positions of the Syrian armed forces. An underground shelter used by terrorists was hit," Rear Adm. Vadim Kulit said.
The Russian official said that six attacks on Syrian troops were registered in the Idlib de-esclation zone in the past 24 hours, including one incident in the Aleppo province and five - in the Latakia province. They were carried out by members of the Jabhat al-Nusra terrorist group and the Islamic Party of Turkestan (both outlawed in Russia). The attacks left two Syrian servicemen dead.
Kulit added that nine violations were registered in the Al-Tanf area over the past day, committed by two pairs of F-16 fighter jets, two pairs of F-18 fighters and one MQ-1C multirole unmanned aerial vehicle of the US-led international coalition.
