FSB detains Far East resident on suspicion of treason for sending funds to Ukrainian army

The FSB Investigative Department opened a criminal case under Article 275 of the Russian Criminal Code ("High Treason"), which calls for 12 to 20 years in prison and a potential fine of up to 500,000 rubles ($6,100)

MOSCOW, April 11. /TASS/. Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) detained a resident of Khabarovsk on suspicion of treason for sending funds to the Ukrainian armed forces, the FSB said in a statement on Tuesday.

"Russia’s Federal Security Service exposed the illegal activities of a Khabarovsk resident involved in treason through providing financial assistance to the Ukrainian armed forces in activities directed against the Russian Federation," the statement reads.

"In conducting active search measures, it was established that the suspect had remitted his personal funds to the Ukrainian armed forces for the purchase of weapons, ammunition and uniforms," the FSB noted.

The FSB Investigative Department opened a criminal case under Article 275 of the Russian Criminal Code ("High Treason"), which calls for 12 to 20 years in prison and a potential fine of up to 500,000 rubles ($6,100).

Investigative measures are being performed to solidify the evidence in the criminal case, the FSB added.
