Attempted drone attack against ZNPP was aimed at destabilizing situation — politician

Vladimir Rogov noted that drones "have been falling, are falling, and will be falling," but they will not reach their targets "due to a whole range of reasons"

MOSCOW, April 6. /TASS/. The Ukrainian army’s attempt to attack the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant (ZNPP) with a Polish drone was made with the aim to destabilize the situation and show that Russia was allegedly unable to ensure safety, the leader of the movement We are Together with Russia, Vladimir Rogov, said on Thursday.

He recalled that a similar situation occurred last April, when the Ukrainian forces tried to hit the ZNPP using a similar UAV.

"Now, against the background of an official meeting between the head of the IAEA and the head of Rosatom, a similar provocation was undertaken with the same purpose - to destabilize the situation and try to show that Russia is allegedly unable to ensure safety. Fortunately, it is able," Rogov said on Radio Russia.

He noted that drones "have been falling, are falling, and will be falling," but they will not reach their targets "due to a whole range of reasons."

Earlier, Renat Karchaa, an adviser to Rosenergoatom's CEO, told TASS that Ukraine was trying to achieve destabilization to create nuclear safety problems for Russia.

Rogov said on Wednesday that Russian forces had shot down a Polish-made attack drone several hundred meters away from the Zaporozhye NPP. The plant’s territory was its the target.

On April 5, Alexey Likhachev, the CEO of Rosatom state corporation, and Rafael Grossi, the head of the IAEA, met in Kaliningrad. Mikhail Ulyanov, Russia's permanent representative to international organizations in Vienna, said that nuclear and physical safety at the ZNPP was discussed.
