MINSK, April 6. /TASS/. More than 500 Belarusian instructors are engaged in training the regional group of forces of Russia and Belarus, a Belarusian general said on Thursday.

"Belarusian servicemen are fulfilling all their obligations to the Union State. Over 500 Belarusian instructors are now busy training units of the regional group of forces. They have all the necessary skills and knowledge," Belarus’ top brass quoted Head of the Belarusian Armed Forces' Main Directorate of Combat Training Major General Alexander Bas as saying.

Early last year, Minsk actively analyzed "the forms and ways of using troops in the course of the special military operation," Bas said. Based on this analysis, training programs have been tweaked, he added. "We focus on being a jack of all trades, using most weapons, and perfecting combat skills in any terrain, including in urban conditions, with the use of various types of drones and other sophisticated weapons, military and special hardware," he specified. He also described the accommodations for soldiers as excellent.

Earlier, the Belarusian Defense Ministry said that combat-tested Russian instructors were training Belarusian troops to use unmanned aerial vehicles.

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko stated on October 10, 2022, that under an agreement with Moscow, the formation of a regional group of forces had begun, the bulk of which would be made up of Belarusian service members. Minsk announced the arrival of the first trains carrying Russian troops in mid-October.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said, following talks with Lukashenko in the Belarusian capital on December 19, that Moscow and Minsk would continue to carry out joint exercises and other combat training activities, including those involving the regional group of forces.

In early January, the Belarusian Defense Ministry said that efforts were underway to build up the regional forces and boost their readiness to perform missions aimed at protecting the Union State of Belarus and Russia.
