MOSCOW, April 6. /TASS/. Moscow will closely monitor Serbia’s military drills ‘Platinum Wolf’ in cooperation with NATO member states, Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Thursday.

"If speaking about the exercises, we will certainly be watching them very closely," he said speaking at a news conference.

In his opinion, "Belgrade is currently under an unprecedented pressure to bringing Serbia to the side of those who employ anti-Russian stance," Peskov stated.

Serbian defense ministry announced on Wednesday that the country would hold the Platinum Wolf joint military exercise with a number of NATO countries from June 16 to 30 on its territory, despite the moratorium previously adopted by the country’s government on any international drills. According to the ministry, these drills are an exception from the moratorium, that is still in force.

The Platinum Wolf exercise has been held in central Serbia at the Yug military base not far from the town of Bujanovac since 2014. The drills are aimed at improving the operational interaction and mutual understanding between partner countries at a tactical level during peacekeeping operations. Troops will also work on tactical maneuvers and actions with the use of non-combat gear.
