Afghan resistance declares guerilla war on Taliban

TEHRAN, March 29. /TASS/. The National Resistance Front of Afghanistan (NRF) announced the start of armed sorties against the Taliban, following a terror attack in downtown Kabul on Monday carried out against the Taliban (prohibited in Russia) by another suicide terrorist group.
On Wednesday, NRF Spokesman Sibghatullah Ahmadi published a video on Twitter allegedly depicting an operation for eliminating checkpoints manned by a Taliban special unit at the Pule Charkhi training center in Kabul. Sounds of automatic gunfire can be heard during the footage, which was filmed at nighttime. "This attack marks the beginning of our guerilla operations to defend the people against the oppression and savagery of the Taliban," the spokesman tweeted.
The Taliban mounted a massive operation to regain control over Afghanistan after the United States announced the withdrawal of its military personnel from the country in the spring of 2021. On August 15, 2021, Taliban forces swept into Kabul without encountering any resistance. After claiming full control of Afghanistan’s territory, on September 7 the Taliban declared a new interim government, which has not yet been recognized by any country.
Some Afghan politicians who disagreed with the radicals organized resistance in the northern Panjshir Province led by Ahmad Massoud, son and successor of ethnic Tajik field commander Ahmad Shah Massoud (1953-2001). Afghan media outlets regularly report clashes between the Taliban and the resistance fighters; however, such guerilla forays are limited in winter.
