MOSCOW, March 15. /TASS/. The Russian government allocates significant funds for the defense industry, but this is not being done at the expense of other industries, President Vladimir Putin said on Wednesday. He was speaking at an expanded meeting of the board of the Prosecutor General's Office.

According to the president, prosecutors should, in particular, monitor "the precise implementation of all work tasks assigned under state defense procurement orders, and the efficient use of budgetary resources" in the defense sector.

"We allocate them in a sufficient volume. There are a lot of them. We do this very carefully, and not to the detriment of other tracks of our activity. But, allocated funds must be spent wisely and in strict accordance with the law," he stressed.

The head of state noted that such issues should be subject to continuous review.

"I’m asking you to pay particular attention to oversight of legality in areas related to the military-industrial complex <…>, first of all, to the timely fulfillment of obligations for the supply of the required weapons, equipment, ammunition, and gear for the needs of the special military operation," he said in instructing the board of the Prosecutor General's Office.
