Russian missile frigate enters Atlantic waters after Mediterranean deployment
In the Atlantic waters, the crew of the frigate Admiral Kasatonov will continue mastering their naval skills and will carry out a series of drills
MURMANSK, March 9. /TASS/. The Northern Fleet’s frigate Admiral Kasatonov has finished its long-distance deployment missions in the Mediterranean Sea and entered the Atlantic Ocean, the Fleet’s press office reported on Thursday.
"The Northern Fleet’s frigate Admiral of the Fleet Kasatonov that operated in the Mediterranean Sea from February 2022 has entered the Atlantic Ocean through the Strait of Gibraltar accompanied by the medium sea tanker Akademik Pashin. The warship’s crew successfully coped with all the assigned objectives as part of the Russian Navy’s standing task force in the Mediterranean Sea," the press office said in a statement.
During their deployment to the Mediterranean Sea, the Northern Fleet’s sailors held dozens of shipboard air defense and anti-submarine warfare drills. In the Atlantic waters, the crew of the frigate Admiral Kasatonov will continue mastering their naval skills and will carry out a series of drills, it said.
Over the period of its deployment in distant waters that began on January 23 last year, the frigate Admiral Kasatonov has covered a distance of about 63,000 nautical miles. After accomplishing all of its assigned objectives, the warship will arrive at the Northern Fleet’s main naval base of Severomorsk.
