MOSCOW, March 3. /TASS/. Russia’s defense ministry on Friday released a video of the launch of a Kalibr missile from the Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky submarine in the Sea of Japan at a coastal target.
The launch was carried out in the daytime. The video also features the missile hitting the designated target.
"The Kalibr missile hit the designated target in the Syurkum tactical field in the Khabarovsk region at the expected time," the ministry said.
The Kalibr (NATO reporting name: SS-N-27 Sizzler) is a Russian cruise missile engineered and produced by the Yekaterinburg-based Novator Design Bureau (part of the Almaz-Antey defense manufacturer). The Russian Armed Forces currently operate shipborne Kalibr-NK and submarine-launched Kalibr-PL missile modifications.
