Batch of modified AK-12 assault rifles delivered to special operation zone — Kalashnikov
The two-shot cut-off mode was excluded from the assault rifle, since it did not lead to a significant increase in efficiency, but complicated the design, chief designer of the concern Sergey Urzhumtsev said
ABU DHABI /UAE/, February 25. /TASS/. A batch of AK-12 assault rifles modified as a result of the use in the special operation was delivered to the combat zone for a new feedback. Sergey Urzhumtsev, chief designer of the Kalashnikov concern, said this in an interview with TASS during the recent international exhibition IDEX 2023.
"From the very beginning of the special military operation, we have been actively cooperating with the Defense Ministry and with those units that were first supplied with these samples. Based on this feedback, a list of comments and proposals on the actual operation of this type of weapon is made. <... We have produced a batch of AK-12s with the changes that were made. This batch has already been sent to the special military operation zone to update feedback," he said.
According to Urzhumtsev, the two-shot cut-off mode was excluded from the assault rifle, since it did not lead to a significant increase in efficiency, but complicated the design. Other changes are related to the convenience and simplification of the operation of the weapon.
In July 2022, Kalashnikov CEO Vladimir Lepin reported that the company had improved the AK-12 based on experience gained during a special military operation. He also mentioned that a prototype with changes was shown to representatives of the Defense Ministry.
IDEX-2023, an international exhibition of military equipment and weapons, was held in Abu Dhabi (UAE) from February 20-24.
