The President of Russia announced the commissioning of the nuclear submarine with cruise missiles "Emperor Alexander III" in the combat structure of the Navy

MOSCOW, February 23. /TASS/. The share of modern armaments in naval strategic nuclear forces will reach 100% with the engagement of the SSBN Emperor Alexander III Borei-A class sub, Russian President Vladimir Putin said in a video address published on the Kremlin website on the occasion of Defender of the Fatherland Day.

"With the Emperor Alexander III Borei-A class nuclear submarine cruiser entering combat service, the share of modern arms and equipment in naval strategic nuclear forces will reach 100%," the president said.

According to him, three other cruisers of this type will join the fleet in the coming years.

The SSBN Emperor Alexander III, the seventh Borei-A class sub, was launched on December 29, 2022. Submarines of this type are capable of carrying 16 Bulava ICBMs. The sea trials of the Emperor Alexander III are scheduled to begin in June 2023.
