BANGALORE /India/, February 13. /TASS/. Su-30MKI and MiG-29UPG fighters of the Indian Air Force have opened the flight program of the 14th international aerospace show Aero-India 2023, a TASS correspondent reports.

"Su-30MKI and MiG-29UPG form the backbone the Indian Air Force’s fleet. Su-30MKI aircraft were produced under license in India," the press service of the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC, part of Rostec) said.

India’s light fighter Tejas performed aerobatics in the sky of Bangalore. This aircraft has became the symbol of the exhibition. Its silhouette was used as the basis of the event’s logo.

The Tejas is the only fighter aircraft designed and currently manufactured in India. According to the local media, the Air Force is armed with 40 Tejas Mark-1 aircraft. Work on this fighter has been underway since the 1980s. Its maiden flight was in 2001, and in 2015 it was decided to put the fighter into service. In the same year, it was decided that about 200 such aircraft would join the Indian Air Force in the future.

India is one of the most well-known users of Su-30 type fighters. It purchased 272 Su-30s from Russia, most of which were assembled in India by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited.

The 14th Aero-India international aerospace show is running at the Yelahanka Air Base in Bangalore, South India from February 13 to February 17. It is held every two years. Russia is an active participant in the exhibition. This year its exposition features 200 samples of military products.
