Russia rolls out BMP-3 with remote-controlled combat module for global market
The made-for-export BMP-3 is fitted with a 100-mm gun and missile launcher, a 30-mm automatic cannon and a 7.62-mm machine gun
MOSCOW, January 23. /TASS/. Moscow has embarked on promoting its BMP-3 mechanized infantry combat vehicle with a new remote-controlled combat module on the international market, the Rosoboronexport arms agency told reporters.
"The promotion has started for the BMP-3 mechanized infantry combat vehicle," the arms agency said. "The vehicle has been presented for the first time as part of the Rostec state corporation’s display at the Army-2022 international defense technology forum," Rosoboronexport reported.
The made-for-export BMP-3 is fitted with a 100-mm gun and missile launcher, a 30-mm automatic cannon and a 7.62-mm machine gun, the arms agency said. Thanks to its powerful weapons, the vehicle is capable of providing fire support to the infantry - including waterborne fire support - and can effectively engage manpower and lightly armored targets like BMPs, APCs, tanks and other targets with reinforced protection, along with low-speed air targets, including helicopters.
