Belarus, Russia deploy troops in response to NATO activity — Belarusian ministry

"It can be deployed both in phases or all at once. We are now doing it in phases," the minister said

MINSK, November 30. /TASS/. The deployment of a Russian-Belarusian military grouping is an appropriate reaction to NATO’s activity, Belarusian Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin said on Wednesday.

"It’s an appropriate response to NATO's actions in the region and a demonstration of our determination to defend our land, the Union State [of Belarus and Russia]. The objective of the regional grouping has not changed. As before, they are defensive in nature," he said in an interview with the SB. Belarus Today publication.

Khrenin said "consideration was given to different options for countering possible challenges and threats and to various approaches to the use of the regional grouping of troops."

"It can be deployed both in phases or all at once. We are now doing it in phases," the minister said.
