Defense firm sends top-notch supersonic bomber to Russian Aerospace Forces after repairs
Specialists carried out routine maintenance work on the bomber and successfully conducted operational acceptance and delivery tests
MOSCOW, November 29. /TASS/. The Tupolev Aircraft Company (part of the United Aircraft Corporation, UAC) has delivered the next Tu-22M3 bomber to the Russian Aerospace Forces after repairs under the defense procurement plan, the UAC press office said on its Telegram channel on Tuesday.
"The Tupolev Aircraft Company has delivered the latest Tu-22M3 missile-carrying bomber to long-range aviation of the Russian Aerospace Forces for operation after repairs under the defense procurement plan," the press office said in a statement.
Specialists carried out routine maintenance work on the bomber and successfully conducted operational acceptance and delivery tests. After the test flight, the Tu-22M3 was handed over to the operator, it said.
The Tu-22M3 is a long-range multi-mode missile-carrying bomber designed to engage ground and naval targets across the entire range of the aircraft’s speed from high, medium and low altitudes. The bomber was accepted for service in 1989. Overall, the Kazan Aviation Plant has assembled about 500 Tu-22M bombers of various modifications.
