Russian top brass posts video of Akatsiya howitzers pounding Ukrainian army positions
The video shows the howitzer team directing the weapon and firing it
MOSCOW, November 28. /TASS/. The Russian Defense Ministry posted a video clip showing a combat team of a 152mm 2S3 Akatsiya self-propelled artillery gun wiping out a Ukrainian army observation post during the special military operation in Ukraine.
"With the help of an unmanned aerial vehicle, reconnaissance has uncovered a new enemy observation post located close to the line of engagement. The task for artillery is to wipe it out within the shortest time possible. For this purpose, an Akatsiya artillery gun is moved into position," the ministry said in a commentary.
The video shows the howitzer team directing the weapon and firing it. After the strike, the howitzer changes its firing position.
The reconnaissance data used to direct the gun and volley fire by high-explosive fragment shells helped obliterate the Ukrainian Neo-Nazi’s position, which was confirmed by data recording equipment, it said.
"We operate in standard mode: we are on combat duty in the designated area in the expectation of the targets that will be exposed by specialized squads or our infantry’s forward units. We have to work round the clock - day and night - suppressing and destroying sites uncovered by reconnaissance, infantry and special units," said the team commander with the call sign Yantar.
In fulfilling their firing missions, the artillery squads persistently interact with the teams of unmanned aerial vehicles who ferret out enemy positions and adjust combat vehicles’ fire, the ministry said.
