Russia working to build armored vehicles for Arctic, defense official says
According to the defense official, work is also underway to build army snowmobiles, utility terrain vehicles and all-terrain vehicles on ultra-low pressure tires
MOSCOW, November 21. /TASS/. Russia is currently building a new two-unit transporter and upgrading the vehicles in service with units deployed in the Arctic, Chief of the Defense Ministry’s Main Automotive and Armor Department Major-General Alexander Shestakov wrote in his article for the Krasnaya Zvezda newspaper.
"A light-weight two-unit caterpillar transporter is being built to equip troops deployed in the Arctic, and two-unit caterpillar transporters of the Vezdesushchy family, the Arktika two-unit armored personnel carrier and support vehicles based on those are being upgraded," he said.
According to the defense official, work is also underway to build army snowmobiles, utility terrain vehicles (UTVs) and all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) on ultra-low pressure tires.
