Kakhovskaya HPP staff continue work, defy difficulties — administration

Earlier, Acting Governor of the Kherson Region Vladimir Saldo said there was no need to commission the Kakhovskaya HPP because the dam could be blasted

GENICHESK, November 15./TASS/. The staff of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power plant continue to work in difficult conditions, the chief of the Novaya Kakhovka city district of the Kherson Region, Vladimir Leontyev, told journalists on Tuesday.

Earlier in the day, Acting Governor of the Kherson Region Vladimir Saldo said there was no need to commission the Kakhovskaya HPP because the dam could be blasted. According to him, as of today the turbines of the hydroelectric power plant do not generate electricity.

"It is very difficult for people to get to the HPP, since the shelling is unpredictable. <...> The [Kakhovskaya] hydroelectric power plant continues to perform the tasks assigned to it. We cannot currently say how long that will be possible in such an extremely difficult situation. <...> They [hydropower plant staff] are courageously doing their job," Leontyev said.
