MOSCOW, November 8. /TASS/. Fighter aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces shot down a Mi-24 attack helicopter of the Ukrainian Air Force in the Kherson Region in the past day, Defense Ministry Spokesman Lieutenant-General Igor Konashenkov reported on Tuesday.
"Fighter aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces shot down a Mi-24 helicopter of the Ukrainian Air Force near the settlement of Novovoskresenskoye in the Kherson Region," the spokesman said at a press briefing on the special military operation in Ukraine.
Russian troops wiped out three Ukrainian artillery platoons in the Donetsk People’s Republic and the Kherson Region in the past day, Konashenkov reported.
"In the counter-battery warfare, the following targets were destroyed: three Ukrainian artillery platoons in the areas of the settlements of Antonovka in the Donetsk People’s Republic, Chervonoye and Belyayevka in the Kherson Region," the spokesman said.

The Mi-24 is a multirole attack helicopter engineered by the Mil Design Bureau and designed to provide fire support for troops on the battlefield and land a tactical assault force. The Mi-24 can also carry out transport missions. The Mi-24 became Europe’s first and the world’s second specialized combat helicopter.
By now, over 30 Mi-24 modifications are in service, including chemical reconnaissance, flying laboratory, mine-laying, anti-submarine warfare, patrol and rescue and other types of the rotorcraft. Mi-24 gunships are in service with the armies of over 50 countries.
