MOSCOW, November 4. /TASS/. The Russian side and the Syrian authorities have completed the process of re-settling refugees from the Rsas camp in Syria’s al-Suwayda governorate, Oleg Yegorov, deputy chief of the Russian Center for Reconciliation of the Opposing Parties in Syria (division of the Russian defense ministry), said on Friday.
"The Russian Center of Reconciliation of the Opposing Parties jointly with the Syrian Ministry of Municipal Governance and Ecology have completed activities to resettle refuges and closed the Rsas camp in the al-Suwayda governorate," he said.
According to Yegorov, 254 people from 62 families who lived in the camp have been resettled and employed in Damascus and in five more Syrian governorates (Damascus, Daraa, Deir ez-Zor, al-Quneitra, and Homs) over six months.
He also said that the former inhabitants of the refugee camp will be able to receive qualified medical assistance at their new places of residence and their children will be able to go to school and kindergartens. "It has helped to ease social tension and channel the funds meant for the camp’s maintenance to finance medical service to the population," he added.
The Russian reconciliation center continues to fulfill assigned tasks after the completion of the military campaign in Syria. The center’s officers regularly travel around the country's liberated areas to assess the humanitarian situation. The main efforts of the Russian military are now focused on assistance to the refugees returning to their homes and evacuation of civilians from de-escalation zones.
