Putin orders reworking armed forces structure after Ukraine experience

The Russian leader also added that these proposals will be discussed during the Defense Ministry’s final board meeting in December

NOVO-OGARYOVO, October 28. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin has instructed, based on the special military operation in Ukraine, to think things through and introduce changes to the construction of all Russian Armed Forces’ components, including ground forces, based on the special military operation experience.

"Much has been done to build the Navy; however, based on our experience in the special military operation, it is necessary to think things through and and make adjustments to the construction of all components of the armed forces, including ground forces," Russian President Vladimir Putin told Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu during their meeting Friday.

The head of state noted that the armed forces development plan is in the works.

"It is being implemented, at the rate and scale stipulated in the plan and agreed at all levels," Putin said.

According to the president, a lot has been done to develop the strategic missile forces, to equip the Russian ground forces and other units with modern weapons, including long-range ones and precision ones.

"All this is available and in combat conditions shows itself at its best," the president underscored.

Putin ordered Shoigu to work out the details, connected to the introduction of changes in the building of armed forces, both within the Defense Ministry and at the expert level. He suggested discussing all issues in order to make all the necessary decisions within the shortest possible time span, which would also be compatible with the development plans of the military-industrial complex.

The president also added that these proposals will be discussed during the Defense Ministry’s final board meeting in December.

"Let us agree that these proposals will be presented and could be adopted during the annual board meeting in December after all this work, including at the expert level," Putin concluded.
