KHERSON, October 19. /TASS/. All of the Ukrainian military’s attempts to launch an offensive in the Kherson Region have been quashed, the region’s deputy governor, Kirill Stremousov, has said.

"The situation in Kherson is under full control. All of the Ukrainian Nazi’s attempts to attack were frustrated. All groups had to retreat to the woods. Our forces have not moved back an inch. Everything is under control," he said on his Telegram channel.

On Tuesday, the Kherson Region’s acting governor, Vladimir Saldo, said that civilians would be evacuated from the right bank part of the region to the left bank of the Dnieper in view of the risk of flooding, which may follow should the Ukrainian military attack the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power plant. He said that Ukraine was building up major forces near Nikolayev and Krivoy Rog. Creation of major defense fortifications was another reason for the evacuation of civilians.

On Wednesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin said he had signed a decree to introduce martial law in the four new regions of Russia. Under the Constitution, in the event of aggression against Russia or an immediate threat of aggression the president introduces martial law in the country or some of its regions and immediately notifies the Federation Council and the State Duma of his decision.
