More than 100 Russian ships currently perform missions in world ocean — Defense Ministry
Nikolay Yevmenov also briefed the veterans on some ships being built
MOSCOW, October 19. /TASS/. More than 100 ships, submarines and support vessels of the Russian Navy are now on various missions in different parts of the World Ocean, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Wednesday.
"Today, more than 100 ships, submarines and support vessels are performing the assigned tasks in various areas of the World Ocean," the Navy’s commander-in-chief, Admiral Nikolay Yevmenov, is quoted as saying at a meeting of the Admiralty Coordinating Council of naval veteran’s organizations.
A group of the Pacific Fleet’s ships, which included The Varyag missile cruiser, The Admiral Tributs large anti-submarine ship and The Boris Butoma tanker, completed have their tasks in the eastern Mediterranean just recently.
Yevmenov also briefed the veterans on some ships being built.
"Recently, keel-laying ceremonies for several dozen ships to be built for the Navy have been held at Russia’s shipbuilding enterprises every year," the Defense Ministry said.
