China warns frequent flights by US spy planes may entail countermeasures
The US Air Force had long been engaged in such activities in the region, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin underscored
BEIJING, June 15. /TASS/. The Chinese authorities intend to take countermeasures in connection with more frequent flights by US spy planes over the territory of China, because they consider such actions as a threat to national security, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said on Wednesday.
"The United States often sends reconnaissance aircraft to spy on China. By doing so it poses a serious threat to the security of our country," he told a news briefing. "We will continue to take the necessary countermeasures. We will firmly protect China's sovereignty and our national security interests."
Wang stressed that the US Air Force had long been engaged in such activities in the region.
"We insist that the United States stop dangerous, provocative actions," Wang said.
