MOSCOW, June 8. /TASS/. More than a thousand of Ukrainian servicemen and foreign mercenaries, who had surrendered in Mariupol, have been transferred to Russia for an investigation there, a law enforcement source has told TASS on Wednesday.

"Over 1,000 people from Azovstal have been transferred to Russia. Law enforcement officers are working with them. Investigators also plan to send a number of other captives to Russia in the future, following a series of face-to-face confrontations," the source said.

In his words, about 100 people, "including foreign mercenaries who surrendered in Mariupol," are currently in Moscow.

TASS has been unable to obtain official comments from investigation and law-enforcement bodies at the time of the publication.

On May 20, Russian Defense Ministry Spokesman Igor Konashenkov said that the Russian troops had liberated the Azovstal plant, where the remnants of the Ukrainian grouping in Mariupol had been holed up. According to the ministry, about 2,400 people have surrendered in total.
