Situation in Mariupol port area and Azovstal works calm — Russian Black Sea Fleet
Both areas have been controlled by the Russian armed forces and the armed forces of the DPR for quite a long time
MARIUPOL /DPR/, May 30. /TASS/. The situation in the Mariupol port area and at the Azovstal works is calm and is controlled by forces of the Russian Black Sea Fleet’s Novorossiysk naval base, the base’s spokesman said on Monday.
"Artillery boats are patrolling the waters from the Mariupol port to port of the Azovstal works. The boats are tasked to monitor the surface and air situation at this section and in the entire Taganrog Bay," he said. "The current situation is calm. Both the port of Mariupol and the port of Azovstal have been controlled by the Russian armed forces and the armed forces of the Donetsk People’s Republic for quite a long time."
Boat crews are tracing low flying objects and hit them if they are identified as enemy targets.
Russian Defense Ministry Spokesman Igor Konashenkov said on May 20 that Russian troops had completely liberated the Azovstal works’ territory from remaining Ukrainian troops. Mariupol is returning to peaceful life, with public transport resuming operation along several routes, debris being cleared from the city’s streets and works being conducted to resume water and energy supplies.
