Foreign customers eye Russian latest over-the-horizon Podsolnukh-E radar

MOSCOW, May 25. /TASS/. Foreign customers display interest in Russia’s Podsolnukh-E (Sunflower-E) over-the-horizon radar station and work with potential buyers is underway, CEO of the Mints Radio-Technical Institute and the NIIDAR Long-Distance Radio Communications Research Institute Yury Anoshko told TASS on Wednesday.
"I can say that there is real interest in the Podsolnukh-E and the Laguna-I and we are now carrying out active work with potential customers," the chief executive said.
Signing contracts on such radars is a lengthy process that requires carrying out survey works, approving performance specifications with customers and deciding on deployment sites, Anoshko said.
The Russian Podsolnukh-E over-the-horizon radar station boasts unique properties compared to its foreign rivals and can concurrently track over 300 sea and air targets on an area of about 150,000 square kilometers round the clock in any climatic conditions. The radar generates specific information on each target that reflects all the data from its detection to its exit from the surveillance sector.
