YEREVAN, May 21. /TASS/. An Armenian serviceman has been wounded after Azerbaijan’s Armed Forces broke the ceasefire, the Armenian Defense Ministry said on Saturday.
"On May 21 at about 2:05 p.m. local time, Azerbaijani units opened fire on the Armenian Armed Forces’ military posts located in the eastern section of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. As a result of the ceasefire violation, a serviceman Gor Gulsaryan sustained a bullet wound," the statement says.
In November 2021, tensions escalated in Nagorno-Karabakh and in the Armenian border region of Syunik. Armenia and Azerbaijan reported armed incidents, including with casualties. In addition, tensions are also reported on sections of the Armenia-Iran highway, which Baku has taken control of in accordance with the statement signed by the leaders of Armenia, Russia and Azerbaijan on November 9, 2020.
