It has been ensuring the country's independence for many years, the Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman also pointed out

SAROV /Nizhny Novgorod Region/, May 17. /TASS/. Russian nuclear shield has been preserving Russia’s national independence for many years, and it ‘pacifies’ those who want to push Russia towards World War III, Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev said during his visit to Sarov, Nizhny Novgorod Region.

"The historic achievement of all those who worked here is exactly in that a reliable nuclear shield for Russia and our allies was created. And this shield has been ensuring our independence for many years; it also helps us to pacify those who seeks to push our country towards World War III or some other problems," Medvedev said, speaking at a meeting on development of the National Center of Physics and Mathematics.

The politician stated with regret that such outbursts are not a rarity today, especially from the states that have "taken a deliberately hostile position" towards Moscow and use Russophobic rhetoric.

"Obviously, in this case, we must remember about our own capabilities. The capabilities that have been created here, in Sarov," he added.

Medvedev refraining from delved into principles and criteria of decision-making in this area.

"The most important thing is that our opponents never forget about it. And, of course, never forget that Russia follows the agreements, achieved at the international level and cemented in key agreements, in key documents," he pointed out.

The official reaffirmed that Moscow’s position in this regard is unchanged: Moscow advocated the use of peaceful nuclear energy and other modern technologies of peaceful, creative intents.

"We live in a world of innovations and our goal is to achieve a stable and sustainable progress in development of our country, and to find breakthrough solution in the most important areas," he concluded, adding that technologies being create in Sarov not only ensure Russia’s security but also support its welfare.
