Nationalists use civilians as human shield in Kharkov region - Russian defense ministry

Nationalists gathered local residents in the settlement of Tsirkuny in the Kharkov region under the threat of physical violence, Mikhail Mizintsev, chief of Russia’s National Defense Management Center, said

MOSCOW, May 6. /TASS/. Ukrainian nationalists gathered local residents in the Kharkov region and under the threat of physical violence used them as a human shield, Mikhail Mizintsev, chief of Russia’s National Defense Management Center, said on Friday.

"Today, nationalists gathered local residents in the settlement of Tsirkuny in the Kharkov region under the threat of physical violence and took them to the southern outskirts of the Borshchevaya community, where they used these people as a human shield while moving toward the contact line with Russian troops seeking to provoke them to open fire at civilians," said Mizintsev, who also heads the Russian Joint Coordination Headquarters for Humanitarian Response in Ukraine.

According to Mizintsev, Ukrainian nationalists were defeated as a result of pinpoint fire: some of them were killed, the rest fled. Civilians were not hurt.

"Such actions replicate Nazi tactics during the Great Patriotic War and reveal the Kiev regime’s barbaric attitude to its own people and its complete disregard of moral nnorms and international humanitarian law," he added.
