Over 450 civilians trapped by nationalists in Nikolo-Vasilyevsky monastery in DPR
According to Mizintsev, the monastery and the only road to it are shelled incessantly with mortars and heavy machine guns; some are killed and wounded
MOSCOW, April 13. /TASS/. Ukrainian nationalists have blockaded more than 450 civilians, including women and children, in the Nikolo-Vasilyevsky monastery in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), Colonel-General Mikhail Mizintsev, chief of Russia’s National Defense Management Center, said on Wednesday.
"Neo-Nazis have blockaded over 450 civilians, including children, women with babies, the elderly people and critically ill patients on life-support as well as cancer and insulin-dependent patients, in the Nikolo-Vasilyevsky monastery in the Volnovakha district of the Donetsk People’s Republic," said Mizintsev, who heads the Russian Joint Coordination Headquarters for Humanitarian Response in Ukraine.
According to Mizintsev, the monastery and the only road to it "are shelled incessantly with mortars and heavy machine guns; some are killed and wounded."
The colonel-general said that it was practically impossible to deliver vital medicines, food and daily essentials to the monastery or to evacuate the people.
"The techniques and patterns of ruthless treatment of civilians proven by the Nazi executioners during the Second World War are now being practiced with extreme sophistication by Ukrainian neo-Nazis," he stressed.
