The consequences of a possible engagement between Russian troops and NATO forces are quite clear and they would be hard to mend, Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov pointed out

MOSCOW, March 23. /TASS/. The idea of deploying NATO peacekeepers to Ukraine is "reckless and extremely dangerous," Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Wednesday.

"It would be a rather reckless and extremely dangerous decision," he said, commenting on the initiative.

Peskov emphasized that a special military operation was taking place in Ukraine. "The consequences of a possible engagement between our troops and NATO forces are quite clear and they would be hard to mend," the Kremlin spokesman noted.

Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki earlier stated that Ukraine had the right to invite "whomever it wishes" to enter the country, including NATO peacekeepers. He was confident that Russia "will not dare to attack the alliance."

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a special military operation based on a request from the heads of the Donbass republics. The Russian leader stressed that Moscow had no plans to occupy Ukrainian territories and the goal was to demilitarize and denazify the country, as well as to fight members of nationalist armed groups who are directly responsible for the Donbass genocide.
