More than 2 million people asked Russia for evacuation - Defense Ministry
The Russian Federation is ready to prepare and conduct a humanitarian operation, the headquarters said in a statement
MOSCOW, March 8. /TASS/. More than 2 million people have asked Russia for evacuation so far, the Russian Interagency Coordination Headquarters for Humanitarian Relief in Ukraine said.
"Taking into account the persistent continuous appeals of foreign embassies, as well as numerous direct requests from Ukrainian citizens for evacuation from almost all populated areas (from March 5 to March 7 alone, more than 2 million (2,000,417) of these requests were registered by official agencies of the Russian Federation and the Russian Interagency Coordination Headquarters for Humanitarian Relief in Ukraine), the Russian Federation is ready to prepare and conduct a humanitarian operation," the headquarters said in a statement.
According to the headquarters, the Russian armed forces are ready for humane steps to evacuate the civilian population from the territory of Ukraine, as well as to create decent accommodation conditions for all refugees in Russia, despite the irresponsible attitude of Ukraine towards the life of civilian citizens of the Russian Federation.
The statement notes that the effectiveness depends only on the Ukrainian side.
"Due to the incompetence and inability of the Ukrainian side to ensure the functioning of humanitarian corridors, the situation in a large number of populated areas on almost the entire territory of Ukraine, primarily in large cities such as Kiev, Chernigov, Sumy, Kharkov and Mariupol, is rapidly deteriorating and has acquired the dimensions of a humanitarian disaster," the statement said.
