Russia to use Marker advanced platform to create robots for security of state facilities
The Marker experimental robotic platform boasts the best capabilities in Russia for autonomous motion in an unknown environment and object identification based on artificial intelligence technologies
MOSCOW, October 21. /TASS/. Russia will use the Marker cutting-edge robotic platform to develop advanced robots for the protection of vital state facilities, Project Head at the National Technology and Robotics Development Center of Advanced Research Fund Arkady Petrosov told TASS on Thursday.
Russia launched an experiment at the Vostochny spaceport in the country’s Far East on October 8 to integrate the Marker robot into the spaceport’s security system. The experiment involved the wheeled Marker robotic platform supplied with a multi-purpose optoelectronic module. The robotic vehicle controlled the state of the spaceport’s electric power lines and utilities and monitored the integrity of the compound’s perimeter.
"The results achieved during the experiment lay the basis for creating advanced robotic vehicles capable of providing security for vital state facilities," Petrosov said.
The Marker experimental robotic platform boasts the best capabilities in Russia for autonomous motion in an unknown environment and object identification based on artificial intelligence technologies. The technologies have been developed by advanced research teams of the State R&D Institute of Aviation Systems, the Southern Federal University and the Scientific Design Bureau of Computing Systems, he specified.
The Marker experimental robotic platform has been developed as part of a joint project of the Advanced Research Fund and the Android Technics Research and Production Association that kicked off in 2018. The project aims to develop and hold large-scale tests of ground robotics and basic robotic elements.
