Project 636.3 Magadan submarine to join Russian Navy on October 12 — Defense Ministry
It is the third submarine in the series
MOSCOW, October 5. /TASS/. The Project 636.3 Magadan diesel-electric submarine will join the Russian Navy on October 12, Russian Defense Ministry told journalists on Tuesday.
"Russian Navy Commander Admiral Nikolay Yevmenov approved the commissioning date of the Project 636.3 Magadan diesel-electric submarine. The flag raising and commissioning ceremony will take place on October 12," the Ministry said.
The Magadan is the third submarine in the series. It was laid down on November 1, 2019, and launched on March 26 this year in a high (91%) completion state. The contract for the construction of the series that will include six submarines was signed in September, 2016.
Project 636.3 submarines are considered to be one of the most silent submarines in the world. Their length stands at 74 meters, with displacement of over 3,900 tonnes; its design depth is 240 meters, its maximum operating depth is 300 meters, and its range is 7,500 miles.
