MURMANSK, February 16. /TASS/. The Northern Fleet’s fuel and lubricants service delivered over 20,000 tonnes of fuel to its Arctic facilities in 2020, the Fleet’s press office reported on Tuesday.
"In the course of the delivery of supplies to the Northern Fleet’s facilities located on Arctic Ocean islands and on the coast of Arctic seas, over 20,000 tonnes of fuel were delivered. Basically, these were diesel fuel and aviation kerosene," the press office said in a statement.
The Northern Fleet is using new technologies for refueling vehicles and armor in permafrost conditions. It has developed Arctic diesel fuel that is successfully used at low air temperatures. This fuel is supplied to the Fleet’s tactical groups stationed on Alexandra Land and Kotelny Islands and also to the units of the Air Force and Air Defense Army that are on combat duty in Yakutia and Novaya Zemlya, the statement says.
Over 150,000 tonnes of various types of fuel are annually allocated for the Fleet’s units: diesel fuel, bunker fuel oil, gasoline and aviation kerosene. Several sea tankers are operational in the auxiliary fleet to provide for the Fleet’s combat and operational training. They alternately supply fuel to naval groups, including in the distant oceanic zone. These vessels include the large sea tanker Sergei Osipov, the medium sea tankers Kama, Vyazma, Akademik Pashin and others, the press office specified.
