Over 360 advanced weapon systems to arrive for Russia’s Northern Fleet by year-end
The share of advanced weapons will total 59%, according to the Russian defense minister said
MOSCOW, April 26. /TASS/. The Northern Fleet will get over 360 newest weapon systems this year and the share of its advanced weaponry will reach 59% by the end of 2019, Russian Defense Minister Army General Sergei Shoigu said at a meeting with defense chiefs on Friday.
"This year, the Northern Fleet will get 368 items of advanced armament and military hardware. By the end of the year, the share of advanced weapons will total 59%," Shoigu said.
Russia continues building cantonments for stationing units and formations on the Arctic coast, the defense minister said.
"The block-modular cantonment in the settlement of Tiksi will be transferred for operation. The completion of the construction of the entire garrison’s infrastructure will make it possible to deploy a new air defense unit of the Northern Fleet," the minister stressed.
