Share of modern weapons in Russian army to exceed 68% in 2019

MOSCOW, April 12. /TASS/. The share of the newest weapons in the Russian armed forces this year will exceed 68%, Deputy Defense Minister Alexei Krivoruchko said on Friday.

"The current pace of work allows for fulfilling the state defense order and build up the share of newest weapons and other military hardware in the armed forces to 68.2%," Krivoruchko said.

He recalled the successful tests of experimental samples of the BTR-82A armored vehicle.

"Starting from 2019 all APCs will be equipped with an upgraded fire control system with a thermal sight and extra protection," he said. "The helicopters Mi-8AMTSh and Mi-8MTV5-1 and frontline bombers Sukhoi-34 are being delivered ahead of time.".
