MURMANSK, April 4. /TASS/. The crew of the large amphibious assault ship Alexander Otrakovsky from the Kola Flotilla of the Russian Northern Fleet’s all-arms forces performed a set of artillery live-fire drills at combat training ranges in the Barents Sea, the Fleet’s press office reported on Thursday.

"The combat teams of the amphibious assault ship sharpened their skills while conducting a sea battle with a notional warship and suppressing a fire pocket on the coast," the press office said.

The artillery crews also destroyed a notional floating mine, the Northern Fleet said.

The fire against the coastal and naval targets was conducted by the combat crew of the 57mm artillery system of the amphibious assault ship’s missile and artillery combat unit. According to the drills’ preliminary results, all the targets were successfully destroyed.

The crew of the large amphibious assault ship Alexander Otrakovsky earlier practiced inter-operability with the minesweepers of the Kola Flotilla and sailed through the waterway of the Kola Bay cleared of mines, the press office said.
