Aircraft destroy ‘enemy’ targets at drills in Trans-Baikal Region
The military exercise, that started on March 25, involves about 10,000 servicemen and more than 2,000 vehicles
CHITA, March 28. /TASS/. Aircraft of the Eastern Military District destroyed "enemy" facilities on Thursday during massive drills that are being held at the Tsugol Range in the Trans-Baikal Region, the district’s press service reported.
The military exercise, that started on March 25, involves about 10,000 servicemen and more than 2,000 vehicles. The drills will end on March 29.
"Today during the practical stage of the massive exercise at the Tsugol Range in the Trans-Baikal Region an air group from the Eastern Military District destroyed important facilities of the hypothetical enemy," the report says.
A Su-24 MR plane carried out air reconnaissance. After that the "enemy’s" ground-based air defenses "destroyed Su-25 attack planes with unguided missiles, and Su-24 and Su-34 bombers struck strategically important facilities, in particular command posts and communication centers."
Su-30SM fighter planes deactivated mock "enemy" missile complexes with guided missiles, and Mi-24 helicopters provided fire support for motor-rifle and tank units that were going across the Onon River. The helicopters fired on the "enemy’s" manpower and light vehicles.
