Kyrgyzstan’s troops hold joint drills with Russian combat aviation
During the exercise servicemen of the two countries will practice marching, deploying radar stations and being on the round-the-clock combat duty
BISHKEK, March 28. /TASS/. Servicemen of Russia’s Kant air base in Kyrgyzstan jointly with the Kyrgyz military are conducting drills in the Central Asian republic’s territory, the General Staff of the Kyrgyz Armed Forces said on Thursday.
"Formations and units of the Air Defense Forces of the Kyrgyz Republic’s Armed Forces are holding tactical drills across the entire republic jointly with the Russian air base in the city of Kant," the statement said. The drills will be wrapped up on March 28, according to the General Staff.
"The goal of this exercise is to test the forces’ combat readiness and ability to meet their combat tasks," the General Staff said. During the exercise servicemen of the two countries will practice marching, deploying radar stations and being on the round-the-clock combat duty.
They will detect simulated aviation and drones of the enemy. Kyrgyzstan’s air defenses will be tasked with detecting targets of a simulated enemy and destroying them with the S-125 systems.
During the drills "the situation will be changed many times, thus making them similar to real combat conditions," it said, without giving details on the number of participants.
The Kant air base, which is located in Kyrgyzstan’s Kant city in the Chuy Region, is part of the Russian unified military base in the republic.
