Foreign orders for Ratnik soldier gear exceed $30 million
The Russian military currently uses second generation gear Ratnik
ABU-DHABI, February 21. /TASS/. Foreign customers have displayed great interest in the soldier combat gear Ratnik or its individual components, the chief of Rostec Corporation, Sergei Chemezov, told TASS.
"On the agenda there are tens of thousands of combat gear components meant for export. Talks are in progress with countries in different regions, including the Middle East. The overall value of commercial proposals from foreign customers exceeds $30 million," Chemezov said.
The second generation combat gear set Ratnik has repeatedly proven its quality in Russia and other countries.
"Some foreign customers would like to have the full set, while others, only in some of its components - bullet-proof vests, helmets, backpacks, knives, general purpose vests, assault kits and others," Chemezov said.
This year Rostec brought to the IDEX weapons show in Abu-Dhabi a sand-colored version of the gear, which had been successfully tested in Syria.
Ratnik
The Russian military currently uses second generation gear Ratnik. Throughout the period it has been in use the body armor was never pierced, the chief of the company that developed the gear TsNIITochMash, Dmitry Semizorov, said earlier.
Ratnik may soon incorporate some new elements being developed for the next generation set Ratnik-3, such as medical sensors, mine-proof footwear and an electronic visor enabling the soldier to aim and shoot around corners. Ratnik-3 will be four kilograms lighter than its predecessor but provide the same degree of protection.
